Kawaii In Manila 2: Celebrating All Things Uber Cool and Kawaii!

Last Saturday, September 6, we were able to join Kawaii in Manila 2 as exhibitors. This event is the brainchild of Kawaii Philippines and Kaila of Rainbowholic—with ice cream, cotton candy, contests, a funky photo booth courtesy of Instax, adorable school girl uniforms and loads of fun activities that made last Saturday a day to remember.

Things were pretty busy at our booth, so I wasn’t able to take as many photos as I would have liked, but I was able to catch a few in between bathroom breaks to share our own Kawaii In Manila experience with!

Kawaii comes alive in art

Several specially selected visual artists showcased their talent here at the Kawaii Art Exhibit, headed by kawaii artist ChiChi.

Special mention: one of those artists is my best bud Mishie of MishieWishie Studio, attending the con in spirit all the way from New York through her elegant Mishie Mermaid!

If you took a picture of this aquatic beauty, Let Mishie know by tagging #MishieMermaid on Twitter or Instagram and she could make one for you next!

Cosplay, cosplay!

We knew there were going to be lots of adorably dressed lolitas and Harajuku girls (and a few goths even) but we didn’t really expect much cosplay. Boy were we wrong.

Just one of the awesome cosplays we missed was Ate Katz’s (better known as cosplayer Nekomi KasaiStudio Ghibli cosplay group! Dangit!

“Ah…”

Though I wasn’t able to take pictures of the great cosplayers around, No Face actually stopped by the Keybie Cafe’s table—and got his keybie.

Score one for the Keybie Lookalikes album!

Not only did this creepily kawaii cosplayer carry himself pretty well, he even had a little surprise stowed away—

He gave us chocolate gold coins! Thanks for this treat of utter cuteness, No Face—and for the chocolate, too!

Sempai noticed us!!

Thank you so, so much for tagging us on your Instagram photos of your loot and hauls! We check the hashtags #keybie, #keybies and #keybiecafe–makes me think we should introduce a main hashtag to keep all these lovely photos in one tag soon but keep those shares coming!  * w *)/

I had this teeny internal moment of ‘HNNNGGGHHH’ when premiere fashion blogger and photographer Ms. Tricia Gosingtian took this photo of our keybies!

I wasn’t able to see her in person, and only found out that she came from Kawaii In Manila‘s Facebook. Dang!!

Spotted! (Image Source: Tricia Will Go Places)

I also met Abbey Sy, who did a lettering workshop at the event as well as sell pretty prints of her hand-lettered work.

Words have never looked so kawaii.

#KawaiiInManila2

Smiles were everywhere, and there was so much art and great performances that I missed (again, dang!), but it was an honor to be part of the day when kawaii truly came alive in the Philippines, and we have Kaila and her team to thank for it.

Have you shared your own Kawaii In Manila 2 experience yet? Make sure you tag #kawaiininmanila2 to share the love!

Until our next event!!
