At long, final last, Micah here with the aftermath coverage of Ozine Fest last April 24-26!
For those of you who may not know, I was still in Japan during the 24th and 25th. My trip was why we were iffy about attending the event, but my mum and brother were able to successfully man our booth without me on both those days. I just caught up on the 26th.
I was a little sick, but there’s nothing like the satisfaction of a day well-spent delivering keybie happiness 😉
Getting to see so many wonderful cosplayers is always something to look forward to when we attend events, and Ozine Fest didn’t disappoint. Not only did I see lots of quality cosplays—I got to see more than a few of characters I didn’t expect to see at all!
There was also one particular ‘cosplay’ I had to say amused me to no end:
It was… Magic-al.
And special shoutout to this Araki Shinji cosplayer! That pose and accuracy was enough to make me stop on the way back from the bathroom to take a quick snap.
It always makes me so happy when you guys share your con keybie loot with us! Keep em coming!
Held in Megatrade Hall 2-3 last January 24 and 25, Otaku Expo 2015 was our first con of the year, and man was it a doozy. The crowds were much, much less congested than last year, though that didn’t stop us from being busy.
The keybie spill below, for example, is a usual sight at ingress–no, we didn’t have an ‘accident’. I’m just arranging all 600+ designs.
Where did we put all these, you might ask?
This year, we had keybies on the walls instead of on our usual stands or table frames, which meant the debut of–the great wall of Keybie! Times two!!
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take a picture of these majestically large walls in their totality, but rest assured–this won’t be the last you see of the Keybie walls.
It took a while, but we have finally have our little report about OTACON! It was our first time attending a con in Glorietta, and on November 1st, no less, but that didn’t stop awesome people from coming–and buying their early Christmas gifts!
New Keybie Designs
No Game No Life’s Shiro, Haikyuu’s Hinata and Kenma and Tokyo Ghoul’s Kaneki Ken were among our newest additions to the Keybie Cafe’s collection~
Do you have them in yours, yet?
Though it’s not Megatrade Hall nor SMX, we got so many new cosplayers with their keybie selves for our Keybie Lookalikes album! Feel free to tag yourselves or your friends, too!
“Who is this? Oh, that’s right… it’s me.”
I may have not gone trick-or-treating, but I did get chocolate–and I have No-face to thank for it!
Remember, we also offer pick-ups of both custom orders and reservations at our events. All we need is an order form and at least 2 weeks notice~
At long last, Micah here with the Cafe’s little post-con report of Cosplay Mania 2014!
It was fun, it was tiring, it was huge, we had severe crowd control issues with the booth next to us, and we saw so many awesome cosplayers who even bought their keybies!
Not every day you get to help Pikachu pick out keybies!
I was even able to take a few pictures of cosplayers outside the venue. It baffles me how amazingly crafted some of them were, from hardcore armor to the biggest props I’ve ever seen. Read on for a peek at the ins and outs of the biggest cosplay event of the year!
It always starts with ingress
Ingress is always a doozy. Over 750 keybies need unpacking, arranging, re-arranging–so much arranging. It’s the ultimate memory game, single-player, and it gets more challenging every new keybie release.
The left image is my before shot, although I was 90% done at this point. Though my mom and our helper quickly got all the keybies out onto the stands, making sure each character was next to their keybie-mates was the challenge.
Once we’re done, everything’s tucked in nice and cozy for the next day.
We got so many awesome cosplayers with their keybies, I think it must be a record :O Not surprising, since Cosmania is the biggest cosplay event of the year.
All these lovely cosplayers get 20% off their keybie lookalikes (For those who aren’t familiar, cosplayers who buy their keybie lookalike get 20% off their keybie at every event we go to), and, with their permission, their photos posted on our Facebook album. Feel free to tag yourself or your friends!
This particular cosplayer caught my eye–I have never seen a cuter pout.
I don’t explore outside the venue of any event often, unless I was going to use a bathroom that was only outside the event, but I got to see seriously impressive cosplays–as well as ones that just made me smile. That BaRapunzel, for example.
All these shots were taken from the side since I was just literally passing through instead of actively taking pics, but I wanted to share!
Spotted a Cat
Kudos to my buddy Cat (the caffeinated kitty who wrote Cafe Talk: Know Your Types of Coffee!) for braving the rain, the distance, and the big-ness of MoA to make it to her first cosplay event and help out at the Cafe’s booth! Good thing you weren’t alone, Cat!
Thanks so much to everyone who shared their keybie hauls on Instagram! We check the #keybiecustomers hashtag (and peeked at #keybie) and it’s awesome to see your collections!
We’re currently restocking some designs that sold out, but we’re also bringing in new keybie goodies that we’re really excited about–so stay tuned! > w <)/
Thank you all so much again, see you at our next event!!
